"In
Dreams... the En Sueño"
En
Sueño translates into "in dreams" and each room of
our home away from home pays tribute to the dreams of yesterday
and today. Naming each room after an early Lea County ranch is
our way of paying tribute to the yearnings for home, family,
romance, and peace that guided these early settlers.

If
romance and love are your dreams of a perfect weekend,
then the place for you is the San Simon room. A queen
size bed and a private bath, along with the fresh and
elegant décor make this room the perfect honeymoon
suite. The San Simon room features a fireplace, a unique
19th century bustle bench, and a wedding
portrait of the founder of the San Simon Ranch, S. W.
Merchant and his wife. So if you dream of that certain
someone, or just long to be away from the hustle and
bustle of daily life, try this room just off the living
room. Tucked away from the rest of the house,

High Lonesome

If
yours is the American dream of success, then the High
Lonesome room is where you’ll be happiest. The red,
white, and blue motif is carried out with American
primitive wall hangings and a lovingly handmade quilt.
The beveled mirror is a fine example of Edwardian excess
and the chest and dresser are genuine antiques from the
ranching areas of New Mexico and West Texas. Relax in
the comfortable rocking chair or catch up on paperwork
at the rustic desk in this room. Working to achieve the
success of the American dream can leave you tired and
the tall iron bedstead with its seashell and flowers
design invites you to sleep and dream of the
possibilities available to those who live in the land of
the free and the home of the brave. |

Who
hasn’t wanted to try on a pair of cowboy boots or wear
one of those famous Stetson hats? If your dream includes
a "bunkhouse," then the Hat Ranch room is the
place for you. Weathered board and rope trim the walls,
while hats on the bedpost give this room a more
masculine appeal. Featuring a queen-size bed of white
washed pine, with a denim bed skirt, this room is a
great place to relax and put your feed up on a
custom-made footstool, while sinking into one of the
denim-covered, overstuffed chairs. This room shares the
"Jack and Jill’ bath with the Four Lakes room and
features a dresser from an early 20th century
hotel in Floydada, Texas. |

Life
as a cowboy wasn’t all hard work and long hours. The
women of the open range were truly
"renaissance" leaders... able to ride, rope,
and wrangle with the men, they also found time to dream
of the trappings of a more civilized life. In the Four
Lakes room, pictures of working ranch women are
juxtapositioned with an authentic sewing machine and
flowered print fabric. The most feminine of the rooms,
Four Lakes shares a ‘Jack and Jill’ bath with the
Hat Ranch room and has a queen size bed. |
